Featured Artist/Event – Vince Guaraldi – Week #2 December 3, 2007

Posted by christianhorner on November 30, 2007

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

In the holiday spirit this weeks featured artist is The Vince Guaraldi Trio.

Some of the the information on this page has been acquired from Wikipedia.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is an album by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, released in 1965 as the soundtrack to the CBS Christmas television special of the same name. It is among the most popular holiday music albums of all time. There was also a book-and-record set featuring music, dialogue, and stills from the Christmas special released in 1977 on a 45 RPM vinyl record by CBS Records.

Fantasy Records reissued the album on CD in 1988; this edition is identical to the original 1965 LP release and can still be purchased in stores and online. A somewhat controversial remastered version of the original album was released by Concord Records in conjunction with Fantasy on October 10, 2006. The new edition includes four previously unreleased bonus tracks — all are alternate versions of songs in the original track listing — and features Digipak packaging, new liner notes by “famed music critic/historian Joel Selvin”, and the original cover art.

So much for the Holiday Spirit – Controversy over a Christmas Album??!?!??!?!?! ;-)

Merry Christmas To All

Enjoy,

Christian

Acid Rain Internet Radio – Launch

Posted by christianhorner on November 19, 2007

Welcome to Acid Rain Radio. This site and radio station was inspired by my good friend Joe Garbus who turned me on to Internet Radio. Joe told me about Delicious Agony Progressive Rock Radio located at http://www.deliciousagony.com . I downloaded a copy of Winamp (see below) and it took me “forever” to get around to listen, but after I did I went a bit further and built out two radio broadcasting servers based on IceCast, MPD/MPC. Acid Rain Radio went on the “air” or “ether” on Saturday November 19th. Here are the URLs for streams at this point:

Music Streams: (Acid Rain Radio streams – Click the links below to listen in your favorite mp3 player on your machine)

You are going to need a good media player. I suggest you download Winamp from http://www.winamp.com/ it is a great player. Or if you are a Linux junkie like me you already know your favorite media player!

Just copy and paste the above URLs depending on your genre taste at that moment in time and enjoy. I will strive to keep the content fresh and who knows where this will lead.

    Enjoy,

    Christian
